

Our Student Funding team are available to offer you information, advice and guidance about a wide range of funds to help you start your course. The team will also help you apply for funds and loans, which may be available to help you with the costs of books and essential equipment for your course, together with travel, childcare costs and emergency hardship.
Some of the funds available include:
- The Adult Learning Grant (ALG) is a weekly payment of up to £30, paid directly to eligible students aged 19 and over studying for their first level 2 (equivalent to five GCSEs at grade C) or level 3 (equivalent to two / three A levels) qualification.
- Care to Learn (C2L) - a scheme to help with the childcare costs of young parents under the age of 20 while they are studying.
- The Discretionary Learner Support Fund - designed to offer limited financial support to those who would not be able to study for financial reasons. The fund can also help to pay for registered childcare costs.
- The Residential Support Programme is available for eligible students to study a course that is not within a reasonable daily travelling distance from your home.
- The Professional & Career Development Loan is a deferred interest repayment loan from a bank to support tuition and living costs while you study. Eligible students can borrow between £300 and £10,000 over two years.
- Higher education students - support is available in applying for student support loans, bursaries, grants, childcare and disabled student allowances.
