Access to University

Printer-friendly version

If you long to go to university but don't have the qualifications then stop right here! City College Plymouth offers a pathway to your dream …

Even if you didn’t follow a traditional academic path at school, you can still achieve a university degree later in life with an Access to Higher Education course, which aims to give you both the confidence and qualifications you need to obtain a university place.

Many of our students, often with very different experiences and concerns discover that they do have both the ability and motivation to learn and as they do so their confidence grows. Many choose to continue with their education by progressing to university and we have very good links with all the local universities, as well as some further afield. All the tutors on the courses are committed to supporting and enabling students to reach their full potential.

At the end of the course our students comment not only on the knowledge they have gained, but also on the support they have had from tutors, as well as one another. They also say that despite all the hard work, it has been fun returning to learn!

The College offers the following Access courses:

24+ Advanced Learning Loans
New for September 2013!

If you’re aged 24 or older, you can apply for a loan to help cover tuition fees for an Access to Higher Education if it starts on or after 1 August 2013.

And what’s more … if you then progress to complete a higher education course, you won’t have to repay the remaining loan for the Access course!

Take a look at our funding pages for more information.

“The College provided a timetable that suited my lifestyle, and the atmosphere was upbeat and lively. I have thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the access course, and feel the lecturers have been very supportive - I have developed in every area of my artistic skills. I hope to progress into higher education in fashion design at university”
