Library

To support your studies we have a library and separate computing (study) areas at each of the two main centres. These will be the key resources for the information that you will need during your studies.

Our libraries contain:

  • over 50,000 books
  • 4,000 e-books
  • 300 different electronic and print journals and newspapers
  • 5,000 DVDs
  • videos
  • on-line resources.

Our staff will show you where to find the resources you need for your course, whether they are books or particular websites and hold drop-in workshops through the year where you will learn about:

  • evaluating websites
  • how to avoid plagiarism
  • refining your research skills.

If you are enrolled on a higher education course, you will also have access to the library services at Plymouth University, along with reduced borrowing rights.

During College holidays, Kings Road library is normally open 9.30-3.30 Monday, Wednesday and Friday and Goschen library is normally open 9.30 - 3.30 Tuesday and Thursday. You can also study at home by logging onto to Moodle to use the e-books.

All College students are given a computer login and e-mail account which will give you access to:

  • software packages
  • on-line resources
  • the internet
  • the College student intranet and the virtual learning environment – Moodle.

Computers are a valuable aid to your learning because you can gather information, analyse it and produce your work on them. You are likely to use them both in class and for self-directed study.
