100s of New Part-time Courses at Your Local College
22 May 2017 | Access to HE & GCSEs
Those looking to improve their career opportunities by up-skilling or retraining have the opportunity to take their next steps with the launch of City College’s new part-time course guide for 2017/18.
The guide provides information to prospective students on the support available and the wide variety of courses on offer – from project management and GCSEs to reflexology and plastering. Courses range from half-day sessions, to three-year university-level Foundation Degrees.
“The College’s vast part-time provision is a fantastic way for people of all ages and backgrounds to enhance employability whilst also learning something new” said Mike Jones, Employability and Enterprise Manager at City College. “With a range of different levels and types of qualification available and a timetable designed to accommodate the working week, the new programmes also offer local businesses some great options for developing their staff.”
“For individuals looking to fund their own study, there is financial support including Advanced Learner Loans available. This is great for people over the age of 19 who meet the criteria, as it means there are no upfront course fees to be paid.”
Ana Rodrigues enrolled on the part-time Access to Higher Education course in Art and Design.
“I am a nurse so my job is demanding and time consuming, however, the Access course fits in perfectly with my hectic schedule,” said Ana. “Being able to study part-time means I can work and still have time to complete my assignments. There is a lot of flexibility.
“This course offers you time to work out the best pathway for you and helps to make sense of the next steps. I now understand where I can progress to and the right road to take in order to get a meaningful career. I am going on to study a Degree in Fine Art.
“The most valuable thing I’ve learnt is to not get frustrated when things go wrong or I make a mistake – there is always a way forward.”
A free copy of the guide is available to download from the College’s website. To find out about the range of study options available, the College is holding a Course Information Drop-in on Wednesday 17 May, 4.30pm to 6.30pm at Kings Road.
