Our Charity Donation to MIND

City College has celebrated its fundraising achievements for the last year by handing over a large cheque to Plymouth and District Mind.

Every year, students and staff at the College raise thousands of pounds for good causes, including a nominated charity which is the focus for their fundraising efforts. For the 2016/17 academic year, the College chose to support Plymouth and District MIND – a local charity committed to the personal care of vulnerable people with mental health issues.

College students and staff donated £3296.13 to the charitable organisation through various fundraising activities, including bake sales, craft fairs, charity dinners, beauty treatments and a charity football match.

Jo Williams, Events Officer at City College, said: “Our students and staff are enthusiastic fundraisers, and it has been a real pleasure to support the important work being carried out by Mind. We’re delighted to be able to present this cheque to this fantastic charity in the knowledge that our contribution will help local people with mental health issues get the support they need.”

Olivia Craig, CEO of Plymouth and District Mind, said: “We would like to thank the students and staff at City College for all their hard work and fundraising efforts over the past year. This amazing donation will really help us to expand our services by offering more counselling sessions to more people. We will also use some of the money to create a mindfulness space in our building.”
