Chocolate Roadshow Deliver Scrumptious Delights at City College
21 February 2018 | Hospitality & Catering
Leading Belgian chocolate manufacturer, Callebaut, is on the road delivering tasty chocolate workshops to chef lecturers at City College Plymouth.
Dedicated to supplying and servicing chocolatiers, confectioners and bakeries around the globe, Callebaut also promotes the training of best chocolate practice with its dedicated Chocolate Academy. The chocolate roadshow delivers workshops to chef lecturers across the UK, providing them with the skills to train the next generation of chocolatiers. City College was the first stop on this year’s tour.
In a true chocoholic’s dream scenario, Callebaut’s experts delivered tips on tasting and tempering chocolate, how to make truffles, ganache and moose, as well as crafting Easter eggs, Easter bunnies and hand-dipping chocolates.
City College’s Professional Cookery and Hospitality Lecturer, Robin Coton, said: “At the College we place a lot of importance on our lecturers having up-to-date skills and being ‘in the know’ when it comes to our industry so that our students get the best possible training. The techniques we have learnt today will be really beneficial to our young chefs and this workshop has been a great opportunity to upskill and network with other Colleges.
“I would like to thank Callebaut for making the College its first stop on the tour. It has been a real treat to have such a prestigious company visit and to have such a successful turnout of chefs is really the cherry on top of a very chocolatey cake.”
“Our roadshow has started off with a bang!” said Julie Sharp Programme Leader of the Callebaut Roadshow. “It has been a truly successful day and I have really enjoyed getting to teach in the College’s fantastic facilities – it has been the perfect venue for today’s sessions. This roadshow is all about spreading the word about chocolate and making everyone understand how easy working with it can be. These workshops will hopefully provide lecturers with new skills to teach in their classrooms and the knowledge to impart on and inspire the next generation of chocolatiers.”
