Christmas production - Performing Arts students

Performing arts students from City College Plymouth are putting on two public performances of ‘The Snow Queen’ in December.

‘The Snow Queen’ is a magical show for Christmas, telling the story of Luna who travels far and wide in search of her missing friend Kai. A truly enchanting mix of original music, physical theatre, puppetry and performance, the show is suitable for brave children and their families.

The winter production has been written by Cornish writer Anna-Maria Murphy (Kneehigh, Radio 4), and directed by Nicola Rosewarne (Kneehigh, Wildworks) and Matt Dean (Inanimate Puppet & Mask). It is performed by City College’s Brazen Angels Theatre Company.

As well as the public performances, the show will be performed in 15 local schools over a three week period.

Higher Education Performing Arts Programme Leader at City College, Nicola Rosewarne, said: “The show has been developed with students who are studying on our Higher Education Performing Arts courses. We are thrilled to be collaborating with our local schools and the public performances will be great experience. It is such an exciting opportunity for our students; it enables them to develop their skills as artists, theatre makers and freelance professionals to a high level.”

The two public performances of the show are taking place:

Thursday 1 December 6.30pm
Devonport Guildhall

Thursday 15 December 7.00pm
City College Plymouth Goschen Centre

Tickets cost £5.00/£3.00 (student/unwaged/u16s) and can be purchased via the Public Events and Student Shows section of the Online Store at onlinestore.cityplym.ac.uk
