City College Plymouth Open Day
City College Plymouth will be opening its doors at Kings Road on Saturday 5 November between 10.00am and 1.00pm. The College Open Day is an opportunity for potential students and their families to see what the College has to offer.
Visitors to the College Open Day will have the chance to get advice on the various vocational, technical and university-level courses on offer, as well as information about careers, funding, childcare and travel costs.
Whether it is young people looking for a different experience from school, or someone hoping to get back into work or wanting to change careers, the College has an extensive programme of learning and training options that are practical, relevant to business needs and prepare people for the real work environment.
During the event a wide range of interactive tasters will be taking place, such as ‘have a go’ sessions in construction, sport and computing. There will also be the chance to see current students showcase their skills in a series of live music and theatrical performances, as well as beauty treatments in the College’s salon, Stars. Visitors can even sample some of the tasty delicacies created by hospitality and catering students.
Sam Selby, Marketing Officer (Events) at the College, said: “The open days are always busy as they offer visitors the chance to find out more about their options and how to make an informed choice about their future by talking to current students and staff, as well as the local employers who exhibit.
“This time, the College is offering a more interactive experience to potential students with a range of fun activities that will give young people an idea of what it will be like to study their chosen subject.”
Key local employers from a wide range of industries will also be in attendance to give an insight into their industry. Those attending include Babcock International, the British Army, Building Plymouth, Pixieland Day Nurseries and Princess Yachts International.
