City College students are the happiest in Plymouth

City College Plymouth’s university-level students are once again among the happiest in the UK, according to the National Student Survey 2021.

This year, the average score for student satisfaction was 75% in response to a national survey that asks about all aspects of university-level education, from the quality of the teaching to the levels of representation offered to students.

Once again, City College has come out way above the national average having scored 85%, which is the highest score in Plymouth. The College was delighted to see scores in the 90s for many of the questions, with more than 92% saying they were satisfied with being able to contact their lecturers when needed, despite much of this academic year having been delivered remotely.

The College’s Head of Higher Education, Kat Jones, said: “It is always pleasing to hear that your students are pleased with the quality of education that they are receiving. Our staff work extremely hard to support our students both academically and pastorally, and the exceptional efforts they make are reflected in this survey.

“There are still many in Plymouth who aren’t aware that City College offers outstanding university-level courses that are constantly reviewed to ensure they are in line with the needs of local employers.

“Our university-level courses are awarded in partnership with the University of Plymouth or Plymouth Marjon University. Your qualification will come from one of these two universities and you will be able to access their facilities, whilst also enjoying the benefits of a friendly college that boasts small class sizes, high levels of one-to-one time with lecturers, and an education that has been rated Gold by the Teaching and Excellence Framework.”

Among the other highest-scoring areas were the flexibility of timetables and the high-quality teaching offered by lecturers. You can read the full results by clicking here.
