City College Students Step into the Spotlight

City College students are cranking up the volume with an end of term musical showcase.

Rocktober, will see the College’s music and live events students take to the stage to perform a range of original composition and covers of well-known rock songs. Students will also be working behind the scenes to provide professional lighting and sound at the event , showcasing all they have learnt in the last six weeks.

“This is a great opportunity for our students to put their skills to the test,” said Nolan Pearce, Lecturer in Event Production. “Here at the College we believe in giving everyone hands-on experience and Rocktober is about our students being able to take their learning out of the classroom and put it into practice.

“Performances like these help them to gain an understanding of the industry and how to put on a good show. They learn what goes on behind the scenes – the production, look, feel and mood, and lighting and sound – and they get to hone their performance styles. It’s going to be a great show and we welcome everyone to come along.”

This free event is open to the public on Thursday 19 October 7.00pm – 9.00pm in the Theatre at Kings Road. Those inspired to follow a career in live events or music can find out more at the College’s Open Day on Saturday 4 November, 10.00am – 1.00pm. Visit for more information.
