College Celebrates Gold for Website Development
01 December 2017 | College News
City College Plymouth is continuing its winning streak with yet another golden accolade – a coveted Gold Award from the College Marketing Network’s FE First Awards.
This latest award recognised the team behind the College’s revamped website, who beat three other shortlisted colleges to take first place in the Website Development Project category at the FE First Awards – the national awards which celebrate marketing excellence in further education colleges across the UK.
The project to rebuild the website was managed by the College’s marketing team and was designed and built by Plymouth-based creative agency, Bluestone360. The new site launched in April this year and its streamlined structure has resulted in an increase in online applications for College courses.
The judges for the Website Development category proclaimed that it was ‘the best they had ever seen’, particularly highlighting the team’s successful management of such a complex project.
Rachel Smith, Chief Executive of the College Marketing Network, said: “The Gold Award was made to an outstanding submission from City College Plymouth which clearly documented the five key stages of their project. The supporting evidence provided was exceptional and clearly demonstrated the outcomes of the project and the subsequent increases in their online applications. An excellent web development project which the judges said was supported by the best submission they had ever seen. In a hotly-contested category, they said this entry stood out from the rest.”
Pauline Hands, City College’s Director of Marketing, Business Engagement and Enterprise, said: “In this digital age, a strong online platform is vital to engage young people and reach out to those who wish to return to education or training. The redesign of our website was a huge undertaking, but one which has already been incredibly successful. Having this work recognised by your peers and the sector’s elite is a huge honour, but to receive such high praise from the judges was quite exceptional. It is my privilege to lead our dedicated and multi-talented marketing team, and I am thrilled that our hard work has been recognised at the national level.”
Heather Pilkington, Digital Account Manager at Bluestone360, said: “We’re absolutely overjoyed that the City College website has been recognised with this award. We worked in partnership with the College’s marketing team; collaborating every step of the way to ensure that prospective students could easily find out about and apply for courses and see how great life at College can be. We are delighted to be continuing this relationship as we work on enhancements to the website over the coming months.”
It has been a golden year for the College which was also awarded the Teaching Excellence Framework Gold award for its university-level provision – the only institution in Plymouth to be awarded Gold in this year’s awards. They were also ranked first general further education college in the country for employer satisfaction and second for student satisfaction in the most recent FE league tables.
The FE First Awards were presented at a Gala Dinner held on Monday 27 November as part of the 30th Annual Conference at the Hilton Warwick. Those interested in the courses available at the College are encouraged to visit their award-winning website at www.cityplym.ac.uk.
