We spoke to Live Events Production student, Heidi, about why she chose to study with us at City College.
Why did you choose City College Plymouth?
I chose to come to City College Plymouth because I wanted to open more doors for myself in the live events industry and develop my knowledge in different desks and different equipment used in the industry.
What surprised you the most about City College Plymouth?
The thing that most surprised me about City College Plymouth is how involved we are with different departments. So we get to couple up with music, drama and hair and beauty, which I wouldn’t have done anywhere else. I didn’t even know hair and beauty was a thing before I came here so, I got to meet loads of interesting different people so, I didn’t think I’d be able to do that whilst I was here, I thought I’d just be shoved away in a corner.
What would you say to someone who is thinking about joining the College?
I would say to someone who was thinking about joining City College Plymouth- 100% do it, it’s the best change I’ve ever made. I’ve met so many different people, I’ve learnt so many different things and I’ve definitely found myself being at College.
What do you want to do after you have finished your course?
After College, I am planning to either go to uni or into an Apprenticeship up in London. The College has introduced me to quite a lot of universities that are well-known for sending students off into the industry afterwards and giving them the best opportunities so they are definitely looking out for me and giving me the right pathway into higher education.
Can you describe City College Plymouth in three words?
I’d sum up City College in three words with: fun, supportive and life-changing.
