Matt Wilson decided to return to education to pursue his dream of becoming a teacher. After visiting the College, he applied for the Access to Higher Education in Teaching course, which has allowed him to balance his studies with work and family life.
He said; “I chose City College because the access course that was available to me was what I needed to help me progress in my future of, hopefully, becoming a teacher. I also chose to come here because it gave me the flexibility, as a more mature learner, to be able to work around the course and to be able to maintain my own life and better myself at the same time.
“It’s absolutely fantastic at the College. It’s a wonderful, supportive environment. It can, I understand, be a bit scary coming back into education after a period of time but I’ve loved my time here. It is a fantastic environment to learn in, very encouraging.
“I could recommend anyone who is thinking about going back into education to do it and to come here. It is a perfect place and a perfect environment to improve yourself and achieve what you can in life.
“If I was to sum up City College in three words, I would say it was inspirational, encouraging and welcoming.”
