Whether you’re an aspiring musician, a budding film producer or the next big thing in virtual reality – this is the CAVA Access course for you. This course is a dynamic, fun experience in which you will develop practical skills using industry-standard equipment. Your lecturers are all qualified industry professionals with recent experience which they will pass on to you.

You will be given the opportunity to work with the community and develop your professional and practical skills, making you more employable, and desirable to your chosen university.
This course is different from the rest as it allows you to work in a more real-world environment that enables you to talk and work with professionals in your chosen area. You will love it!

Course information

This Access to HE Creative Industries course will explore the exciting and rapidly changing world of the media, film and games industry. This programme benefits from high levels of employer input and real-world project briefs to stretch and challenge you.

This course will be in line with the working ideal of the industry and promote inclusion. There will be both online and in-classroom learning. The use of blended learning will also allow us to fall in line with the industry. Collaboration between subject specialists is becoming more prevalent online. It means our teaching can take you outside of your four walls and open you up to the world providing more opportunities. This depth of learning will help to nurture your creativity and understanding of the working environment so that you are ready to move onto higher education. 

In undertaking this Access to HE course, you will complete units which will help you develop skills in games development, film making and audio production. Some of the units you will study may include: 

Moving Image Project 

Radio Feature Production 

Website Design 

Audio Production for Video 

3D Modelling for Games 

Final Major Project 

In addition, you will complete some ungraded units, including mandatory study skills modules which will develop your academic readiness for university.

To succeed on this course you need to be committed towards your study and focused upon your career choice. This route is designed for adult students (19+). Funding is not available for those aged 18 and under, and we would recommend that alternative vocational qualifications are considered which support progression on to further or higher education and employment.

You should have a level 2 qualification in English and a level 1 qualification in maths, however, in exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to take the course without these qualifications. The course is assessed by coursework, presentations, assignments and projects.

Every effort is made to ensure that the units and credits offered are sufficient for progression routes onto higher education courses, however, specific courses at specific universities may have their own unique admissions requirements.
