This course is delivered via distance learning and is suitable for individuals looking to build a rewarding career in accounting.

Throughout the course, you will learn the essential accounting principles which includes bookkeeping, costing and the business environment.

Course information

This course covers the following units:

  •  introduction to bookkeeping 
  • principles of bookkeeping controls 
  • principles of costing 
  • the business environment. 
The AAT does not set any prerequisites for the study of the Level 2 Certificate in Accounting. However, for the best chance of success, you should have a level 4 or above in English and maths. You will have to pass an initial assessment and you will need to demonstrate a genuine interest in the subject. 
This course is delivered through evening sessions via distance learning. You will therefore need access to a quiet space, a computer with a reliable internet connection, a webcam and a microphone. Full visual and verbal engagement during the sessions is expected. Practice and final assessments will take place in the evenings at the College’s Kings Road campus. 
You will need to pay a registration fee of £175 direct to the AAT and it is recommended that you purchase the study texts prior to the start of the course. All study texts are available from BPP with some being available for loan in the College’s Digital Learning Quarter.

This course is assessed by computer-based assessments that are set and marked by the AAT. 

The assessments will take place at the College’s Kings Road campus. 

The skills developed by studying this qualification, will give you a solid base from which to seek employment with confidence, and/or to progress to the next level of learning. You may wish to progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Accounting.
