What's it all about?

Do you want to work on a building site? In accordance with recent health and safety laws, you will need a CSCS card in order to work or even be present on most active building sites. It may be that you’ve got the experience but not the relevant qualification. If so, this is the course for you.

In order to undertake the CSCS test and obtain the card, you will first need to have completed a Health and Safety qualification – normally within a diploma or Apprenticeship. This three day intensive course will give you a recognised qualification and enable you to sit the CSCS test in order to work on building sites.

Course information

This is a two day intensive course with a reading and distance learning requirement before the course starts. It will cover the following elements:

  • the principles of risk assessment for maintaining and improving health and safety at work
  • the importance of safe manual handling in the workplace
  • the importance of working safely at height
  • risks to health within a construction environment
  • working around plant equipment safely.

The are no formal entry requirements, but a commitment to the course and an interest in construction is required.

There will be a paper-based end test.

On successful completion of this course you will be able to undertake the CSCS Card and Training course at the College in order to gain your CSCS card.
