About the course

Do you want a career in the beauty industry, focusing on specialist treatments and therapies? This full-time course at City College Plymouth will equip you with the skills you need to take on this challenge and start your career in the beauty therapy sector. You’ll learn the skills needed to carry out advanced treatments in facial and body techniques, such as body electrical, facial electrical, microdermabrasion, body massage and stone therapy.

What you'll learn

This qualification covers a wide range of skills and knowledge required for working in the beauty sector, including;

  • body massage
  • facial electrotherapy treatments
  • body electrotherapy treatments
  • microdermabrasion
  • stone therapy
  • self-tanning.
Entry requirements

In order to be successful on this course, you should already have a level 2 qualification in Beauty Therapy.


You will be assessed by practical observations in a realistic environment on paying clients and through assignment work, which will include oral and written questions. A portfolio of evidence is required to complete the course and support assessments. There are also some externally set online exams.
