About the course

Do you want a job in the beauty industry, helping clients to enhance the appearance of facial and body areas? This full-time advanced beauty therapy course at City College Plymouth will give you the skills you need to carry out advanced treatments in facial and body techniques. Using technical, electrical pieces of equipment, you will receive training in body massage, body electrical, facial electrical, microdermabrasion, anatomy and physiology. This study programme will provide you with all the skills needed for employment in the beauty industry, from mobile therapists to working on cruise liners or in salons and spas. The world is your oyster!

What you'll learn

Mandatory units involving professionalism. Facial and body units:

  • body massage
  • body electrical
  • facial electrical
  • microdermabrasion
  • anatomy and physiology.

Your individualised study programme will be made up of the following four areas:

  • the qualification you are studying
  • English and maths
  • work experience
  • other activities to develop your personal skills e.g. preparing you for employment, training or higher/further education.
Entry requirements
  • Four GCSEs at grade A*-C (9-4), to include a science-based subject
  • Level 2 in Beauty Therapy (Intermediate)
  • Professional attitude and appearance

You will be assessed by an end of year online theory exam and a practical exam.
