About the course

Would you like to work as a therapist in a spa, on a cruise ship or at a 5* hotel? Prepare yourself for a career in the wellness and spa industry with this City & Guilds diploma in Beauty Therapy at City College Plymouth. This qualification will give you the specialist skills you need to carry out advanced treatments such as microdermabrasion, body massage and stone therapy. All these treatments are highly desirable and this is the perfect course to compliment a Level 2 Beauty Therapy course. By expanding and improving on your salon planning, communication skills and sales techniques alongside health and safety practices, you will become a well-rounded professional.

This qualification will equip you with a range of specialist skills and knowledge required for working in the body therapies sector. You will learn to execute highly desirable therapies, study theories and gain underpinning knowledge and learn how to implement business practices.

What you'll learn

This qualification covers the wide range of skills and knowledge required for working in the body therapies sector, including:

  • body massage
  • facial electrotherapy treatments
  • microdermabrasion
  • stone therapy massage.
Entry requirements

To start this course you will need a Level 2 in Beauty Therapy.

Assessments/Exams

There are externally set exams and internally-assessed practical observations for each subject area. You will also be required to a portfolio of work, which will include some assignments.

What's next?

On successful completion you be able to go on to a Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology or Aromatherapy or a Level 4 in Beauty Therapy.

Fees quoted apply to courses starting in the academic year 2018/19 (August 2018 – July 2019). There may be a slight increase in fees for courses starting 2019/20.
