About the course

Are you looking for a civil engineering degree course? This Foundation Degree in Civil Engineering is awarded by the University of Plymouth. Civil engineers help to create the structures and systems that sustain society. They are responsible for designing, building, maintaining everything from bridges to power stations. Successful completion of this course may lead to membership of professional bodies such as the Institution of Civil Engineers. You’ll study through a mix of lectures, scientific experiments, and practical work-based training, to gain specialist knowledge in a wide range of areas from site surveying to structural analysis and design to geotechnics. This course is rooted in real-world practice, where you will interpret civil engineering problems, design and construct solutions and put them to the test!

Entry requirements

We welcome applications from those who have all of the following:

  • 56 UCAS tariff points
  • a level 3 qualification in maths
  • four GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, to include English, maths and combined science

or alternatively:

  • equivalent qualifications
  • relevant work experience.

Should entry requirements not be met then individual cases will be considered.

Assessments/Exams

Assessment will be through a mixture of coursework, in-class assessments, presentations and examinations.
