About the course

Would you like to train as a business coach? Or perhaps you would like to become a better people manager, or develop a coaching culture within your organisation? This one day coaching workshop will help you to become an effective coach and get the most out of your workforce or your coaching clients. Coaching enables businesses and business people to address two fundamental challenges; the first is adapting quickly to change and the second is cultivating creativity. Many businesses are confused about the differences between mentoring and coaching and as a result they fail to uncover the potential in their workforce. This course is part of a range of short courses for business owners, existing and aspiring managers that can support you and your team gain skills, knowledge and confidence across a breadth of subjects.

What you'll learn

The greatest untapped resource in any business is its employees; coaching and mentoring can unlock this potential. On this course we focus on the skills of communication through coaching. Participants will learn how coaching can help develop independent thinking to the benefit of the business.On one level the skill of coaching is simple: it revolves around quality communication and respect.  However, just because it is simple, that doesn’t mean it is easy.  It requires the knowledge and understanding of how and when it is best applied.  The workshop will introduce you to this powerful skill and share the core concepts of coaching which you will be able to use straight away.

Objectives and outcomes:

  • To identify the difference between coaching and mentoring
  • To evaluate when coaching and/or mentoring is best used in a business
  • To identify and display good listening and questioning skills
  • Learn and apply the ‘GROW’ model for coaching conversations.
