Are you looking to begin a career in the performing and producion arts industry? If so, this new course could be perfect for you! Aimed at young people who are passionate about performance and looking to begin their training, this Level 2 Diploma will be taught in a highly specialist environment at our new state-of-the-art STEM building.
You’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills as both an individual and a member of a performance ensemble. You will be involved right from the start in an in-depth experience of performing and production arts. The course covers a broad range of subjects, and you’ll develop your skills in performance-making across a wide range of disciplines, including acting, movement, musical theatre and production.
The units that you’ll study on the course will lead to opportunities to perform, sometimes at large-scale public performances. You’ll also develop your skills in maths and English, leading to a GCSE or Functional Skills qualification.
This course involves the following subjects:
- introduction to performance
- introduction to production
- communicating with an audience
- staging a performance
- contextual research for performance and production
- performance skills and practice
- production skills and practice
- personal project and presentation
- producing and performing to an audience (level 2)
- producing and performing to an audience (level 3).
You will need to have some previous performance experience and a passion for the arts.
You will be continually assessed throughout each stage of the course. This will include projects, ongoing rehearsal and performance work, practice routine, practical assessment and evaluation.
On successful completion of this course, you may be able to progress onto a level 3 course in Performing Arts, with a view to working in the industry.
Fees quoted apply to courses starting in the academic year 2021/22 (August 2021 – July 2022). There may be a slight increase in fees for courses starting 2022/23.
If you are aged 16-18, due to Government funding, tuition fees may not be applicable for your course. (Please note: this does not apply to Foundation Degrees or Access to Higher Education courses, and other courses not eligible for public funding.)
