This Level 1 Award in Dementia Awareness will provide you with knowledge about the most common types of dementia, the signs and symptoms of dementia and good practice in caring for those suffering with dementia. The course is aimed those who would like to know more about the topic for themselves or others in a personal, professional or voluntary capacity.
On this level 1 course, you will learn about:
- the most common types of dementia
- the ways in which common types of dementia can affect an individual
- the importance of taking a person-centred approach to caring for a person with dementia
- ways in which a carer can support an individual with dementia.
There are no specific entry requirements for this course.
This course is assessed by module assessments.
On successful completion of this course, you could go on to study our Level 2 in Dementia Awareness or our OCNLR Cerficate in Awareness of Mental Health and Wellbeing.
Fees quoted apply to courses starting in the academic year 2018/19 (August 2018 – July 2019). There may be a slight increase in fees for courses starting 2019/20.
