About the course

This qualification aims to provide expert guidance to those wishing to gain knowledge and understanding of electric vehicle charging equipment installation.

It will allow you to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the electro technology sector.

What you'll learn

The course covers the following subjects:

  • an understanding of the key requirements of electric vehicle charging equipment
  • design, preparation and assessing suitability of earthing and supply types
  • financial incentives and how they are applied
  • recognising the types, modes and requirements for electric vehicle charging
  • inspection and testing of electric vehicle charging installations

certification, commissioning and notification of electric vehicle charging equipment.

Entry requirements

This course is intended for practicing electricians.

Due to the safety implications of working with electricity and the guided learning hours associated with this qualification, applicants should have a level 3 qualification demonstrating competency associated with working in the electrical installation industry.

Assessments/Exams

You will be assessed via a multiple-choice online exam and one practical assessment including the application of design and installation practice to an open book scenario and observation of practical inspection, testing and commissioning of a live installation.

Important information

Fees quoted apply to courses starting in the academic year 2021/22 (August 2021 – July 2022). There may be a slight increase in fees for courses starting 2022/23.

If you are aged 16-18, due to Government funding, tuition fees may not be applicable for your course. (Please note: this does not apply to Foundation Degrees or Access to Higher Education courses, and other courses not eligible for public funding.)
