About the course

If you have been working in engineering for a few years and have a good skill-set in your role but wish to develop, this is a great course to demonstrate your current knowledge and further your competency.

What you'll learn

This course develops understanding in:

  • complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements
  • using and interpreting engineering data and documentation
  • working efficiently and effectively in engineering.
Entry requirements

Completion of a level 2 course in a related field is essential. It is also recommended that you are experienced working in an engineering based role requiring you to demonstrate fabrication and welding skills.


A portfolio of evidence will be submitted for assessment and there are no formal examinations.

What's next?

Following completion of the level 3 course, there is the opportunity progress in a wide range of fabrication and welding engineering roles including:

  • plater/fabricator
  • sheet metal worker
  • steel erector/fabricator
  • welder.

Fees quoted apply to courses starting in the academic year 2017/18 (August 2017 – July 2018). There may be a slight increase in fees for courses starting 2019/20.
