This course is an ideal pathway for anyone looking to study with students with a range of ages, ethnicities and backgrounds in an enriched learning environment. The course provides a high level of pastoral support, especially for those who have not been in education for some years. Included in the course are Study Skills and Master Class sessions which directly contribute to skills in academic writing and social and cultural engagement and opportunities.

Course information

The course includes the following subjects:

  • dementia awareness
  • mental health issues and wellbeing
  • psychological perspectives in health and social care
  • communication
  • safeguarding
  • research design and inquiry (health and social care)
  • sociological perspectives in health and social care
  • issues of leadership and management
  • person centred practice – holistic care
  • examination of legislation and quality protocols/standards
  • personal professional practice portfolio.

We welcome applications from those who have the following:

  • 48 UCAS tariff points (to include a full level 3 qualification) or a T Level pass in an appropriate subject area
  • five GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, to include English and maths
  • a clear DBS certificate.

Any applicants who do not meet the standard entry requirements but have relevant work experience and/or professional qualifications will be considered on an individual basis.

Assessment will be through essays, case studies, reports and research, which are directly linked to your professional practice and ongoing reflection.
