Are you looking for a better or more exciting chef job in Plymouth, Devon or Cornwall? If you already work as a chef or cook in a hotel, restaurant or other kitchen, this catering course will develop your skills and improve your job opportunities. The City & Guilds NVQ in Food Production and Cooking will focus on developing and assessing your existing skills, formalising your knowledge and developing further. Although an intermediate (level 2) course, we will concentrate on the basics of food production and practical know-how, covering vegetables, soups, stocks and sauces, meat, fish and poultry, and pastry products.
The course centres around preparation and cooking in an industrial kitchen, covering:
- stocks, soups and sauces
- meat, fish and poultry
- pastry products.
There are no specific requirements for this course. However, having employment within the sector is prefered.
Each of the practical units is assessed formatively in the workplace or College and has a written short answer test.
On successful completion of this course, you may wish to progress onto a level 3 hospitality and catering course at the College.
