About the course

Are you looking for a food safety or food hygiene course in Plymouth, Devon or the surrounding area? The Food Safety in Catering qualification is suitable for anybody, whether in a supervisory position or those working directly with food. You’ll need to have some experience in a full or part-time position within the hospitality sector and be looking to take on more responsibility for food safety at work. It is relevant to all catering operations either in a professional environment or the home.

What you'll learn

This course will provide you with knowledge of the parameters of basic food safety practice relevant to the catering industry. It will enable you to identify how to make changes to catering practice in order to improve the safety of the catering service as a whole. You will gain a range of food safety skills directly relevant to the catering and hospitality industry. There are four learning outcomes to this unit.
You will be able to understand:

  • how individuals can take personal responsibility for food safety
  • the importance of keeping him/herself clean and hygienic
  • the importance of keeping the work areas clean and hygienic
  • the importance of keeping food safe.
Entry requirements

The Food Safety in Catering qualification is suitable for anybody, whether in a supervisory position or those working directly with food.

Assessments/Exams

You will be assessed by a written test.
