When you'll study: Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9.30am - 2.30pm or 5.30pm - 9.00pm (plus additional assessment Saturdays scheduled throughout the year)
This is the perfect all-round hair and make-up course to introduce you to a wide range of skills used within the make-up industry. The qualification will prepare you for a move into the world of makeovers to create a variety of looks for photographic, bridal or prom to name but a few.
Throughout the qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of the skin, health and safety, hair and media make-up products and equipment. You will develop a range of technical skills enabling you to prepare the skin and apply a variety of make-up products, using different techniques. You will also develop a range of basic technical hairdressing skills
The course includes the following units:
- the art of photographic make-up
- health and safety
- create an image based on a theme
- consultation for hair services
- shampoo and condition
- the art of dressing hair
- plaiting and twisting
- apply makeup
- themed face painting
- shaping and colouring eyebrows.
Each unit will be assessed through a variety of online exams, written assignments and practical observation.
Upon successful completion you can embark on a career within the hair and make-up industry on either an employed or self-employed basis. You can choose to further your learning via enrolling on to a level 2 hairdressing course or a level 2 beauty therapy course at the College in order to gain further knowledge in these areas.
Fees quoted apply to courses starting in the academic year 2020/21 (August 2020 – July 2021). There may be a slight increase in fees for courses starting 2021/22.
If you are aged 16-18, due to Government funding, tuition fees may not be applicable for your course. (Please note: this does not apply to Foundation Degrees or Access to Higher Education courses, and other courses not eligible for public funding.)
