Our Junior Hair and Beauty Academy is a fantastic opportunity for 14-16 year olds to sample what the industry has to offer in a snap shot. Students will be able to play with products, sample colour swatches, work with polishes, glitters, face-paints, make-up and much more.
Want to learn about how to care for your skin? Now is your chance, you will discover what your skin really needs to stay healthy.
Not sure what shampoo is good for your hair? Why do you need conditioner? Come and try for yourself.
Struggle with hair up or polishing nails? Then this is your chance to come and get some hands on, expert help and support.
This course provides an introduction to basic hair-up with shampooing/blowdry techniques, basic make-up application, shaping and polishing natural nails with some nail art. We also create a look based on a theme using all the techniques we have learned throughout the course.
Students will be able to let their imagination run free as they re-create images from magazines or the internet.
Students will also learn about the importance of a skin care and how to look after their skin with a 3 stage cleanse routine.
Over the course of the 9 weeks we will be learning lots of new skills alongside creating a theme, for example, a mermaid make-up using Snazaroo facepaints with sparkly nails and big hair.
As our final session we will be inviting parents/guardians in so we can show off to them what we have been doing over the past 9 weeks. Students will be asking a friend or family member ( aged 14+) to come in and act as a “model” so the student can re-create the look they have been practising on them.
There are no entry requirements for this course however the students will need to be aged 14-16 and due to this, we will be requiring a signed parental consent form to allow the students to use industry grade products and equipment, for example, nail varnish remover (non-acetone), individual lash glue (to apply gems), the use of heating ironings for the hair etc. Full details will be provided on the consent forms.
This course has no assessments or exams. However, some worksheets are given out to do at home to gather ideas and to find some colour choices and props, but it’s all fun!
Students will be equipped with some knowledge to enable them to start a level 1 or 2 course here at the college. They will have some basic understanding of the course and the industry they are choosing to enter into.
