What's it all about?

This qualification is designed to support the development of registered managers of adult social care services. It will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to work in adult social care and to have responsibility for leading and managing a service. This will include managing and improving care and support for those accessing the service, supporting and developing the workforce, and driving the vision for your service or organisation.

Course information

You must achieve 80 credits from the 20 mandatory units and a minimum of 15 credits from the optional units to achieve a minimum of 95 credits in total.

  • Supervision and Performance Management in Adult Care Safeguarding in Adult Care 

  • Health and Safety in Adult Care 

  • Risk-Taking and Risk Management in Adult Care 

  • Managing Comments, Concerns and Complaints in Adult Care

  • Manage Own Professional Development and Personal Wellbeing Decision-Making in Adult Care 

  • Market Provision and Integrated Approaches in Adult Care Innovation and Change in Adult Care

There are no specific entry requirements for this course, however you will need to be at least 19 years of age. It is also recommended that you hold a level 3 qualification or above in a related area and have worked within the social care sector.

You will be assessed via coursework and observations in the workplace.  

Upon successful completion, you may progress to an Apprenticeship or qualification such as higher level Apprenticeship or to a higher education qualification such as a foundation degree or degree programme, providing any specific entry requirements are met.

A level 6 leadership qualification or Apprenticeship, providing your job role supports the requirements of the standard, would also provide progression opportunities.
