The Foundation Degree is designed specifically to provide you with the practical ability, theoretical understanding and core self-management skills to become an independent creative make-up artist, with a broad knowledge of the practical skills to create a range of looks, alongside an ability to reflect thoughtfully on your own and others’ practice.
It aims to equip you with the widest and most up to date combination of skills and techniques, to encourage self-reflection and the enthusiasm to continue gaining knowledge, critical understanding and self-reflective practice. All study and scholarly activity on the programme will be first and foremost engaged through the perspective of the make-up artist.
You will study the following subject areas:
- introduction to visual studies
- professional practice
- dynamics of design
- fashion and photographic
- film, television and media productions
- counter cultural
- professional practice placements
- dynamics of design exploration
- fashion, media and marketing
- lifecasting and prosthetics
- hair and wigs.
We welcome applications from those who have all of the following:
- 64 UCAS tariff points (to include a full level 3 qualification)
- five GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, to include English and maths
- equivalent qualifications
- relevant work experience.
Should entry requirements not be met then individual cases will be considered.
You will be interviewed before an offer is made.
International students will be expected to meet the English language requirements of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent and have the equivalent of the above level 3 qualifications or professional experience.
Coursework and practical assessments.
Upon successful completion you may progress to the BA (Hons) Make-up Artistry top-up degree at the College.
Other employment routes include: freelance employment; assistant make-up artist; chief/key make-up artist.
Fees quoted apply to courses starting in the academic year 2019/20 (August 2019 – July 2020). There may be a slight increase in fees for courses starting 2020/21.
If you are aged 16-18, due to Government funding, tuition fees may not be applicable for your course. (Please note: this does not apply to Foundation Degrees or Access to Higher Education courses, and other courses not eligible for public funding.)
