The FdSc Mechanical Engineering at City College Plymouth is a university-level programme awarded by the University of Plymouth. The Foundation Degree in Mechanical Engineering enables you to develop the necessary technical knowledge and skills required for entry into the exciting world of mechanical engineering. The programme has been designed to provide you with a wide breadth of knowledge to prepare you for the multi-disciplined elements of working in the mechanical engineering industry.

Entry requirements

We welcome applications from those who have a minimum of four GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including maths and science, and one or more of the following:

  • 48 UCAS tariff points
  • a BTEC National Certificate/Diploma or Extended Diploma in a related subject
  • an Advanced Apprenticeship
  • a level 3 qualification in mathematics
  • a level 3 qualification in a related subject
  • equivalent qualifications or relevant work experience.

Should the entry requirements not be met then individual cases will be considered.

Assessments/Exams

Assessment will be through a mixture of coursework, in-class tests and examinations.
