Do you want to train for a job in the media as a presenter, radio producer, journalist, graphic designer, or digital reporter? Media Apprenticeships at City College Plymouth offer the chance to start work in the creative industries, working in a trainee role and earning a wage or training allowance. Whether you want to work in communications, TV, or radio, behind the scenes or in the public eye, our intermediate and advanced Media Apprenticeships could be for you! The Apprenticeship covers new entrant roles in a range of sectors, including TV, animation, interactive media, film and radio. It also covers the growing role of digital technologies in changing the way that media content is shared and enjoyed by audiences. The Media Apprenticeship can offer you a viable route to a university-level education, whilst working for a local company, completing nationally recognised qualifications and earning a wage.

What you'll learn
  • Functional Skills in maths, English and ICT.
  • ERR – Employee Rights and Responsibilities.
  • Personal Learning and thinking skills (PLTS) – Independent enquiry, creative thinking, reflective thinking, team working, self-management and effective participation.

Acceptance on this Apprenticeship is via initial assessment.


Assessment is continuous, both on and off the job.

On successful completion, you may wish to continue your studies by moving onto a higher level Apprenticeship or course. You could also benefit from greatly enhanced job opportunities, whether with your current employer or elsewhere.

Fees quoted apply to courses starting in the academic year 2018/19 (August 2018 – July 2019). There may be a slight increase in fees for courses starting 2019/20.
