Mehndi – also known as henna body art – is a common practise in the Far East and is growing ever more popular in the West. Media coverage, social media celebrities and festival fashion have increased the demand for skilled henna artists. On this course, you’ll learn all about the practice, culture and fashion trends surrounding this art form, as well as how to create and apply stunning designs.
You’ll be taught how to mix henna paste for free-hand and stencil designs, as well as how to create your own. We’ll also make sure you learn all about the equipment and products available so you can choose the best tools for the job. After practicing on paper, you’ll progress to applying your designs to hands and arms before leaving the course with the skills you need to become a proficient Mehndi artist.
This course includes the following subjects:
- applying, planning and preparing for Mehndi skin decoration
- skin types, disorders and basic anatomy and physiology
- products, tools and equipment for henna application
- safety, patch testing, aftercare and removal of henna
- client care
- health and safety.
There are no specific entry requirements for this course.
There are no formal exams.
On successful completion of this course, you may be able to progress to another course beauty therapy course at City College. Alternatively, you may wish to consider self-employment or freelancing at events, parties or festivals.
Fees quoted apply to courses starting in the academic year 2017/18 (August 2017 – July 2018). There may be a slight increase in fees for courses starting 2018/19.
