This advanced study programme will build on your previous knowledge, skills and qualifications to introduce you to more complex maintenance and repair systems. You will complete a research project covering operation and diagnosis of systems, which will allow you to improve your problem-solving skills and prove you can work on your own initiative.
Your individualised study programme will be made up of the following four areas:
- the qualification you are studying
- English and maths
- work experience
- other activities to develop your personal skills e.g. preparing you for employment, training or higher/further education.
You will need to have GCSEs at grade 3 (D) in English and maths, and a level 2 diploma.
You will be assessed through a variety of practical tasks and assessments, and online and paper exams.
On successful completion you may progress to:
- another level 3 engineering course at the College
- an advanced Apprenticeship in light vehicle repair
- employment in the industry as, for example, a trainee technician.
If you do go into employment you could complete the NVQ element of this diploma, adding value to your qualification.
