About the course

The Foundation Degree in Naval Architecture at City College Plymouth will enable you to develop the necessary technical knowledge and skills required for entering the exciting world of ship and vessel design. The course has been designed to provide you with a wide breadth of knowledge to prepare you for the multi-disciplined elements of working in this industry. You will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills gained throughout the course in your final years. This is a university-level course awarded by the University of Plymouth.

Entry requirements

We welcome applications from those who have a minimum of four GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including maths and science, and one or more of the following:

  • 48 UCAS tariff points
  • a BTEC National Certificate/Diploma or Extended Diploma in a related subject
  • an Advanced Apprenticeship
  • a level 3 qualification in mathematics
  • a level 3 in a related subject
  • equivalent qualifications or relevant work experience.

Should the entry requirements not be met then individual cases will be considered.

Assessments/Exams

Assessment will be through a mixture of coursework, in-class tests and examinations.
