City College Plymouth is extremely proud to offer this high quality, advanced level BTEC Diploma in Environmental Science, which is equivalent to three A Levels.

You will learn from experts in marine science in our specialist, well-resourced facilities, and benefit from the College’s close links with the National Marine Aquarium and Plymouth Marine Labs.

This course has a varied learning programme which can enable you to progress to environmental, marine and sustainability industries or on to a wide range of universities studying subjects ranging from ecology to geology, environmental science and many more.

You will get hands-on in lab settings whilst looking into more specialist units that explore and assess the human relationship with the world around us.

All of this, right here in Britain’s Ocean City!

Course information

You will study fundamental concepts in science, as well as key lab techniques providing you with a solid foundation to develop industry. Further to this, you will get hands-on with units in environmental surveying and management, as well as a unit in waste management.

The second year will add further scientific concepts such as cell biology and genetics whilst providing units in sustainable development and conservation.

You will need to have achieved five GCSEs at grade 9-4 (C or above), including maths, English language and at least one science.

There is a mix of exams and coursework on this programme.

You could progress onto our  HNC in Applied Science (various pathways) or go onto study a degree at university.
