Do you want a work-based training route to a job as a painter or decorator? City College Plymouth can provide this opportunity through the NVQ Level 2 in Painting and Decorating. This onsite assessment pathway is a great way to gain the highly valued NVQ as well as enabling you to apply for skilled status CSCS cards, which are essential to your eligibility to work on large construction sites. You will learn about complex building and trade procedures and prove your competence with practical demonstrations across the trade. You’ll also learn and evidence health and safety practices and site/project management at level 2. Our trainers and assessors are all experienced in delivering effective NVQ and construction training. They will support and guide you through your qualification with competence and concise guidance.
This course will involve one of our highly experienced assessors visiting you on-site frequently over the duration of your course. The assessor will task you to collect and collate the evidence required to satisfy the criteria of the NVQ qualification, thus proving your trade, skill and competency levels.
You will also be required to gather evidence to underpin your practical skills and evidence your understanding of the trade processes and construction safety.
In order to be successful on this course you will need:
- a trade specialism and sufficient trade experience
- English and maths at level 3 or above
- exposure to the working tasks required to satisfy the NVQ qualification (this will be determined at interview).
Assessment will be through evidence collected during your course. There are no formal exams.
Upon successful completion of this course, you may wish to progress to a level 3 construction course at the College. You could also benefit from enhanced employment opportunities in site management.
