What's it all about?

These qualifications are aimed at practising or aspiring managers who supervise or manage a team, or project officer and shift manager to achieve clearly defined outcomes. They will set and monitor goals and objectives by providing instruction, direction and guidance. Day-to-day operational and project activities are a key part of their role.

Course information

Our qualifications are broken down into units and relevant topics aligned to the level and qualification. Typical units for this course are: 

  • – principles of management and leadership 
  • – managing a team to achieve results 
  • – building stakeholder relationships using effective communication 
  • – contributing to the delivery of a project 
  • – managing daily activities to achieve results 
  • – managing budgets and resources 
  • – managing data and information 
  • – managing own personal and professional development. 

In order to be successful on this course you will need to have qualifications in maths and English at a minimum of level 2 (functional skills/GCSEs).

To qualify for a complimentary Level 3 course, candidates must meet one of the following conditions:

  • Should be at least 19 years old and not possess a Level 3 qualification
  • Hold a Level 3 qualification or higher, but have an annual income below the National Living Wage (set at £20,319 as of April 2023)
  • Have attained a Level 3 qualification or higher and are currently not employed.

The course is assessed by coursework. There are no exams.

Upon successful completion you may progress to the CMI L5 Diploma in Management and Leadership at the College.
