Project SEARCH is a unique opportunity for young people with learning disabilities in Plymouth and surrounding areas, who are serious about getting into paid work. It is a partnership between City College, Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust, Serco and Pluss. You will develop your employment skills by working in real jobs at Derriford Hospital. You will be supported to experience three different work areas as you learn the skills that employers are looking for. As well as working in the hospital, you will be expected to complete related coursework. Experienced teaching and employment advisory staff will support you. On successful completion, you may progress into paid employment, Apprenticeships or further individualised vocational training.
You will need to:
- be 18 to 24 years of age at the start of the course
- have a learning disability and an EHC plan
- have a good record of timekeeping and attendance
- be prepared to work Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 4.00pm
- have some previous work experience
- not be on jobseekers allowance during the course
- living at an address that pays council tax to Plymouth City Council.
On successful completion you may progress into paid employment, Apprenticeships or further individualised vocational training.
