This course is aimed at those who want to begin a career in the catering, hospitality and tourism industries, or those who want to build a solid foundation of knowledge to move on to further study. You’ll learn the skills and knowledge needed to work in these traditional areas, as well as emerging industries. You may be hoping to work in the service industry, or you’re part of the new generation of entrepreneurs who need business start-up skills for your ideas. Whatever your dreams, we can help you achieve them!
On this course, you’ll learn about a variety of subjects, with options to study a range of units, including:
- health and safety for catering, hospitality and tourism
- healthier food and special diets
- developing barista skills
- preparing and cooking food
- baking bread, pastry, cakes and biscuits
- employability skills.
You’ll also have the opportunity to undertake work experience and enrichment activities throughout the year.
There are no specific entry requirements for the course.
Assessment will be via a portfolio of evidence. There are no formal exams.
On successful completion of this course, you may wish to progress to a level 3 course at the College. Alternatively, you can use your new skills to seek employment in the catering, hospitality and tourism industries.
Fees quoted apply to courses starting in the academic year 2017/18 (August 2017 – July 2018). There may be a slight increase in fees for courses starting 2018/19.
