About the course

This exciting and innovative course is designed to enable you to extend your skills and knowledge in all aspects of music. It will give you an insight into the artistic process from initial idea through to recording and marketing. You will be able to specialise in an area of interest – such as performing, recording, composing and collaborating with other art forms like theatre, film or dance – as well as thinking about other contexts for music such as community music, carnival, music therapy, sonic art or music from around the world.

During your course, you will build on the skills learned to develop a product or service or brand, explore markets and methods to promote your music.

Entry requirements

We welcome applications from those who have one or more of the following:

  • 48 UCAS tariff points
  • a national diploma, subsidiary or extended diploma in music
  • two A Levels in a relevant subject, including one in music.

Should entry requirements not be met then individual cases will be considered.


Assessment will be via coursework, which will include practical work, development of ideas, written submissions, video/audio assessments and the production of working products.

What's next?

On successful completion of this course, you may be able to progress to:

  • further study, such as a degree or Foundation Degree in a related subject at a range of universities
  • a wide range of careers within the music industry, such as music performance, creating music for media, or working in copyright, publishing or marketing.
