This City and Guilds qualification in Tungsten inert gas welding (TIG Welding) is also sometimes known as Gas Tungsten Inert Arc Welding (GTAW). This TIG welding course at City College Plymouth is largely of a practical nature with a small element of theory. It is designed to give you the practical skills for welding specific joints and the knowledge to understand welding safety, machinery set-up and welding terminology.
The course involves mainly practical sessions which will give you the skills to tackle the five welding tests to the given standard. The element of theory involved will enable you to answer the verbal questions on welding health and safety and your chosen welding process.
There are no specific entry requirements for this course.
Five practical skills tests and verbal questioning are used for the award of this certificate.
On successful completion of the course you will be offered the opportunity to progress to the level 2 welding course at the College.
Fees quoted apply to courses starting in the academic year 2021/22 (August 2021 – July 2022). There may be a slight increase in fees for courses starting 2022/23.
If you are aged 16-18, due to Government funding, tuition fees may not be applicable for your course. (Please note: this does not apply to Foundation Degrees or Access to Higher Education courses, and other courses not eligible for public funding.)
