Do you want to learn a new skill? On this course, you’ll learn basic skills for building and construction work in a supportive and friendly environment that will help you get to grips with industry terms and phrases. This course is ideal for those who are keen to begin a career in construction. It will provide you a solid foundation from which you can move onto higher level courses of specialise in a trade such as plumbing, bricklaying or decorating.
This course will cover four main areas to give you an overview of the construction trade;
- responsible working practice
- personal presentation in the workplace
- pipework skills
- plastering operations.
You will need to have entry level 2 functional skills in English in order to be successful on this course.
There will be two practical assessments and two short, written exams.
On successful completion of this course, you may wish to progress to one of the following courses at the College;
