About the course

This course is an introductory certificate to the construction trades. It will give you an insight into
the construction industry and enable you to progress on to specific skills training and
development in bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, painting and decorating and plastering.

What you'll learn

The course will enable you to develop your hand-skills in the construction trades. Areas covered
include bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, painting and decorating and plastering.

Entry requirements

There are no specific entry requirements for this course.


Your lecturer will assess your work and you will be required to undertake some online health
and safety tests.

What's next?

Upon successful completion you may progress on to a full-time course at diploma levels 1 and
2, an Apprenticeship or gain employment.

Important information

Fees quoted apply to courses starting in the academic year 2020/21 (August 2020 – July 2021). There may be a slight increase in fees for courses starting 2021/22.

If you are aged 16-18, due to Government funding, tuition fees may not be applicable for your course. (Please note: this does not apply to Foundation Degrees or Access to Higher Education courses, and other courses not eligible for public funding.)
