Dance Student Celebrates Success

A local student has danced his way into one of the most prestigious contemporary dance schools in the UK.

Max Revell, who is studying for a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Dance at City College, has secured a place on the BA (Hons) course in Contemporary Dance at the exclusive Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds.

After studying media production at Plymouth College of Art, Max considered a career in media and looked into going to university, but soon realised he had to fulfil his dream of studying at a contemporary dance school. Recognising he needed more training, Max joined the HNC at City College.

“We are so proud of what Max has achieved,” said Dance Lecturer, Jo Ramsden. “He came to us with no previous knowledge of contemporary dance techniques and now look at him! His passion for dance has shone through from day one and we knew he would achieve his dream. Max has worked as hard as humanly possible and his achievement is a testament not only to his talent, but to his dedication. We wish him all the best next year.”

“It’s crazy thinking of where I might be now if I hadn’t decided to pursue dance,” said Max. “I never thought I would be here finishing my studies with a place at one of the most prestigious contemporary dance schools in the country waiting for me at the end. I can’t thank everyone who has supported me enough, and a special mention goes to Toby and Jo Gorniak and everyone from Street Factory dance school. I’m proof that taking a risk and chasing your dreams is one worth taking.”
