Free Courses for Adults

‘It’s never too late’ is the message City College is promoting to adults – especially those who are employed and earning less than £15,700.

The Government is trialling a new one-year scheme to support adults in accessing free education and City College is advocating that adults need to get in quick!

The College’s Employability and Enterprise Manager, Mike Jones, said: “This new Government initiative offers a fantastic opportunity for adults to retrain or gain a recognised qualification via entry level, level one and level two courses. All they need to do in order to prove their eligibility is to present a payslip or P60 evidencing that their annual salary falls under £15,700. This scheme isn’t about household income, but an individual’s own salary from full or part-time employment.

“The scheme will also benefit businesses looking for new ways to support their staff with their continued professional development. There are courses available in a range of areas, including hospitality and catering, hair and beauty, construction, and English and maths. All of our part-time courses are designed to fit around work and home life.”
