PL1 Students Do MTV Crashes

01 August 2017 | College News, Hospitality & Catering, Student Life

City College students ‘wok’d out’ at MTV Crashes on Plymouth Hoe where they were serving up culinary delights in the VIP tent.  The group of students, along with their lecturing team, served up street-style food to guests who came to watch musical talents, including X-Factor winner Louisa Johnson, Sigma, Martin Garrix and Busted.
Chaz Talbot, Academy Manager for Hospitality and Catering said: “Being involved in MTV Crashes has been a great experience for the students. They have been involved in designing the menu, preparing the food and then serving the dishes to the VIP corporate hospitality guests, whilst also getting to enjoy the live music and meet a few VIPs. The feedback we’ve received has been fantastic and the team have enjoyed bringing the PL1 Restaurant to Plymouth Hoe.
Mike Jones, Employability and Enterprise Manager added: “As expected it was a great two days and this opportunity provided a fantastic chance for work experience for our students who are looking to go into the hospitality industry. Our students take so much away from working high profile events in the City such as MTV Crashes, Flavour Fest and Transat and it is great that we are able to continue providing such valuable experience locally for them. Students joining the College in September will have the opportunity to be part of a whole host of City events during their courses which is great fun but can also lead to an excellent hospitality career.”
For anybody interested in a career in hospitality and catering, the College is holding an event in the City Centre on Friday 25 August, between 10.00am and 5.00pm at the Piazza. Please visit or call 01752 305300 for more information.
