Plymouth Dance Scene Celebrated at City College

12 February 2018 | Performing Arts & Music

Dancers from across the City have showcased their talent at Dance Infinity 2018 – a two-night extravaganza hosted by City College Plymouth.

The event celebrates dance within Plymouth with performances showcasing local dance groups, as well as dance students studying at the College. With no restrictions on age or dance style, Dance Infinity 2018 was a unique opportunity for the various dance schools in Plymouth to come together and show off their talent.

Joanne Ramsden, Dance Lecturer at City College, said: “Plymouth has an amazing dance scene and Dance Infinity is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate this. It was amazing to welcome so many local dance groups to our new theatre and see the great variety of skills and talent each one had to offer. Rarely do we get the chance to see hip-hop performers share the same stage as ballet and contemporary dancers, and this is what makes this event special.

“At the College, we offer a range of full-time dance programmes covering all styles, including: ballet; contemporary; tap; jazz; musical theatre; commercial and international dance; as well as choreography. It was wonderful to see our students share the stage with so many talented dance troupes and perform to a packed theatre.”

As well as College students, the dance schools that took part included: Alison Sawle School of Dance; Classique Dance School; Exim Dance Company; Groovement Project; Italia Conti Plymouth; Rhythm City; Spindrift Dance; SWS School of Dance; Totnes School of Dance; and Twinkletoes.

Those interested in developing their dance skills, can find out more at the College’s Course Information Drop-in event on Wednesday 7 March, 4.30pm to 6.30pm at Kings Road. Visit cityplym.ac.uk/events or call 01752 305300 for more information.
